R&D of optical computing chips achieves important milestone results.

Rentai Frontier Technology Research Institute has achieved important phased results in the research and development of optical computing chips. The research team has successfully developed a prototype matrix computing unit based on silicon photonics, which has shown great potential in specific AI inference tasks.

Optical computing chips use photons instead of electrons for information processing, offering the advantages of ultra-high speed and ultra-low power consumption. Test data shows that the energy efficiency ratio of the optical computing unit in matrix multiplication operations is more than 100 times that of traditional electronic chips.

At present, the research team is addressing key technical challenges such as the integration level and manufacturing process of optical computing chips. It is expected that within 3 to 5 years, optical computing technology will achieve commercial application in specific scenarios such as AI inference.

Optical computing is considered one of the important technology directions in the post-Moore era. This research achievement has laid an important foundation for Rentai Technology in the field of next-generation computing technology.
